Father Christmas (Santa) swap - tutorial

Welcome! How are you today?
It's wet and miserable here today, but I am still buzzing from the full-on weekend of crafting, chatting and fun I just had!!!

On Saturday I was lucky enough to attend Amanda Fowler's Stampin' Up! team training in Fareham, as Michelle Last (my upline/team leader) was presenting at the event. So myself and Sandie Brain went along for the ride AND most importantly, to join in the fun and crafting! And in true demonstrator fashion when we get together we create swaps for everyone attending. Swaps are when you make a batch of identical card fronts or 3D items which get exchanged, a great way of sharing ideas, blog information and stamp set usage that we may not have thought about prior to receiving the swaps. I love this part of the day.... it's so inspirational... I made 44, one for everyone.

And then on Sunday (yesterday) I attended my own Stampin' Up! training held by Michelle Last in Bicester. And once again I created the same swap, and I made 38.... so I can honestly say I am proficient in making these now and it's nowhere near Christmas yet!!!

I warn you now, this is a VERY picture heavy post but if you're anything like me I'm a visual person, so I thought I would show you step-by-step picture instructions, so grab yourself a cuppa and a biscuit and join me whilst I share with you how I made my swaps. I would love some feedback/comments on whether my tutorial was helpful, and please let me know if you give this a go and how you did!

(All items used are Stampin' Up products)
So, here they are, aren't they adorable... all lined up and ready to go to a good home!
I cut out in Whisper White using the 1 3/4" and 2 3/8" scallop circle punch.

I then ran the circles through my Big Shot using Tab 1 and the Stampin' Up! exclusive embossing folder called "Vintage Wallpaper".
And this is how it turns out. I ran my thumbs under the smaller layer to create some definition.

I then cut out in Very Vanilla an oval for Santa's face using the large oval punch. And then created his rosy cheeks using Blushing Bride and a sponge dauber.
To make his cheeks, just ink up your dauber and dab on the left and right of the oval.

Use the 5-petal punch and Whisper White card stock to create his mustache.

Use the 1/2" circle punch to create his nose using Very Vanilla card stock.
Then sponge around the circle with Blushing Bride in to create his rosy nose.
See, He's starting to take shape!
I then used the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack in Whisper White, and in Basic Black card stock I used the red highlighted circle section of the Builder Cupcake punch. These now create His eyes.
Now He can see you! but he is not quite finished.....
I used Cherry Cobbler card stock to create His hat. I then scored this piece at an angle to create the floppy part of His hat.

I used the largest flower from the Boho Blossom punch to make his hat bobble.
Stick the hat to his head and then I added a small blob of Crytsal Effects to make his eyes more 3D.... I left mine overnight to dry flat, and then only when it's good and dry I was able to used the white gel pen in the SU catalogue to add the white of His eyes.

And here He is.... all finished and ready to hand out! Do you like Him???
I thought he would make a great gift tag, tree ornament, bookmark, card topper.... well, the list is endless.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get all the way to the end of this post!
Cute isn't He.... I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and I'd love to see pictures if you have a go and make any yourselves from this post.

I hope everyone who received this swap from me this weekend loved him as much as I enjoyed making him to give to you! I'd love to hear from you and get your feedback....

If you have any questions, or maybe you'd like to become a Demonstrator in my wonderful team of Pink Owls so you too can attend the training being held in October, I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day and see you again!
